The Casey-Westfield Board of Education met in special session on Friday and unanimously approved a three-year contract with Jon Julius as the district's new superintendent. He will take over for Dee Scott who will retire at the end of June. Julius, a native of Teutopolis, received his master's degree in education administration from Eastern Illinois University and holds a doctorate degree from Indiana State University. He is currently the superintendent of Jasper CCSD #17 in Fairfield.

Julius and his wife, Kylee, have three children, Jackson, 12, Kieffer, 11, and Kruze, 6. They are currently making plans to secure residency in the district. "It's a big decision to move our family. We have been in our current home for the past six years and we are blessed to be in our current district, but I truly felt God's presence leading us to Casey. I feel confident that this isn't just a great opportunity for me professionally. It will benefit my wife in her endeavors also." The couple owns a concession business and has visited the Casey area many times over the past few years. "We already know quite a few folks in town and I don't think it will take long for us to get to know everyone else, considering the presence I plan to have in the schools and community, and attending the many sporting events our boys enjoy playing in. We are looking forward to this new chapter in our lives and being a light for the Casey-Westfield schools and community."

Julius is looking forward to meeting and working with the staff and extended praise for the board of education stating that he was very impressed by their relentless efforts to find the best fit for the district and that he appreciated their values for improving education.
