WHEN SHOULD I KEEP MY CHILD HOME?

Unfortunately, sometimes children get sick and need to stay home. We are thankful for your cooperation in keeping your children home when they are sick- this helps to keep their classmates well. The following guidelines can be found in the Student-Parent Handbook. This list is certainly not the only reasons you should keep your child at home. You know your child- if they are ill, keep them home! If you have any questions or concerns, please call!

Fever: Student must be fever free (without the help of medication) for 24 hours before returning to school.

Pink eye (conjunctivitis): Student must remain home for 24 hours after beginning treatment.

Impetigo: Student must remain home for 24 hours after beginning treatment. Affected areas must be covered when returning to school.

Ringworm or Pinworm: Student must remain home for 24 hours after beginning treatment. Affected areas must be covered when returning to school.

Scabies: Student must remain home until the day after the first scabicide treatment.

Chicken pox:  Student must remain home for no less than 5 days after the eruption of the last vesicle or until the vesicles become dry.

Gastroenteritis (commonly known as "stomach flu"): Student must remain home until absence of diarrhea and fever free for 24 hours.

Strep throat: Student must remain home for 24 hours after treatment begins and fever free for 24 hours.
