Over the weekend the choir department traveled to EIU to participate in the ILMEA District Festival! This is an audition based festival, with over 300 students from our district auditioning for the mixed choir and only about a third of those students getting accepted! Junior, Charity Large, was accepted and had a blast making music with other like-minded, musically driven students. At the end of the day they perform the music they have been working on and this year was one of the best concerts I think this district has done. The music was very challenging and they performed it with ease! Congratulations, Charity!

Mrs. Seaton’s Senior English releases a book!!
Her Senior English class has released the third volume of their short story collection, “Beyond the Classroom: Real Stories from the Warriors.” This latest installment is displayed in the school library's student author selection section. The book showcases the unique perspectives and experiences of Mrs. Seaton’s talented students.
Each year, Mrs. Seaton introduces her Senior English class to “The Freedom Writers Diary,” inspiring a journey of self-discovery and academic growth. As a final project, she challenges her students to write their book. This collaborative effort, where each student contributes at least one entry, concludes with a celebratory book publishing party.
Mrs. Seaton’s vision is to empower her students to leave a lasting legacy. While initially met with skepticism and disbelief, her students ultimately embrace the challenge and channel their creativity into powerful stories. The freedom to express themselves honestly and openly fosters a safe space for growth and development. Through this process, Mrs. Seaton can provide constructive feedback, helping students refine their writing skills and address grammatical errors.
“Beyond the Classroom: Real Stories from the Warriors” represents student voices' power and creative expression's transformative impact. This innovative approach to teaching English has inspired countless students to become confident writers and critical thinkers.

Mrs. Seaton's Senior ELA class hosted the administration, guidance, and school board for their 3rd Annual Book Signing. Each year, Mrs. Seaton's students embark on a unique literary journey, crafting self-narratives that chronicle their time at Casey-Westfield. These heartfelt stories offer a glimpse into the lives of these young authors, capturing their experiences, challenges, and triumphs. The resulting books are added to the school library, becoming a lasting legacy for future generations.
