8th grade students received their 1,000 day letters on Thursday. In 5th grade, on their 1000th day of school, students wrote notes to their future selves. 1,000 calendar days later, the students get to read their notes along with a note from their 5th grade teacher. This yearly activity always brings lots of JOY and SMILES!

There's nothing better than a spooky story on Halloween! Mrs. Shawver’s 6th graders made a Halloween Roll-A-Story into actual well-illustrated books! They enjoyed the process and reading each book on Halloween 🎃👻📖

Mrs. Robinson's class had a spooktacular Halloween. 👻 The little goblins launched ghost rockets, stirred up bubbling witch's brew, shouted "BINGO!" and munched on Halloween Chex mix. Our classroom was filled with giggles and magical moments!

This week, Monroe hosted Family Reading Night! Miss Bishop presented a challenge to her class - if they had 10 students from their homeroom attend Family Reading Night, they would earn something special for Halloween! The class rose to the challenge and earned a spooky graveyard treat. Happy Halloween!! 🎃 👻 🖤

💀🦴 Norm’s Busy Week Around School! 🦴💀

Our favorite Zone Room skeleton, Norm, has been everywhere lately — and he’s been having a blast! 😎

This week, Norm...
🏫 Utilized the Zone Room calming corner
📟 Responded to walkie calls like a pro
🌳 Enjoyed the views of the playground
📖 Participated in Family Reading Night
🌡️ Got a temp check from Nurse Megan
📚 Read a book in the library
🎨 Painted with a friend in art
🚶‍♂️ Took an afternoon walk on the walking path
👋 Visited a classroom
💼 Stopped by Mrs. Rhoads’ office for a quick chat!

Norm’s showing us all how to stay involved, helpful, and connected around Monroe — one bone at a time! 💀❤️

We will call this a Close to all school collaboration project (a few students were absent and no kindergarten). Students were given one color family to use and had to complete a self portrait picture. My student assistant, Lucy Moore, arranged them in rainbow order! ROYGBIV for the win! 🌈

🌰✨The last couple of weeks in Zone Room sessions, our younger students read Acorn Was a Little Wild by Jen Arena and talked all about what it means to have self-control and make safe, kind choices — even when we feel a little “wild”!

Our older students focused on the same theme of growth and self-control, sharing real-life examples of when they made strong choices and how they can keep growing this fall.

No matter our age, we can all be a little wild sometimes — but like Acorn, we’re learning that growth happens when we slow down, reflect, and make good choices! 🌰✨
