2024 Solar Eclipse

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This email is to inform you about an exciting upcoming event! On April 8th, we will be witnessing a solar eclipse. To ensure the safety of our students while they observe this celestial phenomenon, we will send home a special solar eclipse viewer with each student. The Solar Viewers will be sent home with each student on Wednesday, March 27th.

Please note: Looking directly at the sun, even during an eclipse, can cause permanent eye damage. These viewers are specifically designed to safely filter out harmful solar rays, allowing students to view the eclipse with minimal risk. We provide the viewer as a service, but it is up to you as a parent or guardian to inspect for damage and supervise your children for safe viewing. Casey-Westfield School District does not assume responsibility for adequately using these viewers or damaged viewers that could be brought home.

Additional Information:

We encourage you to discuss the solar eclipse with your child beforehand. There are many educational resources available online and in libraries that can help explain this fascinating event.
