‼Open House Information‼
🍎Due to the generosity of our community, we have a surplus of donated backpacks. Some are even filled with school supplies. These will be available to our students during open house tonight. You can find these backpacks outside of the nurse's room. First come, first served basis-- available to any Monroe student!
🍎Don't forget to bring your Summer Reading BINGO sheets to open house tonight! If you are unable to attend, you may turn in tomorrow to your teacher. We will not accept BINGO sheets turned in after that, as we plan to draw the winners tomorrow.
🍎Stop by the ASC table located near the front office to sign you child(ren) up for ASC. You can access the paperwork at this link: https://www.caseywestfield.org/o/monroe/page/after-school-care-program and have it filled out, ready to turn in. There will also be forms available at the ASC table. Calendar and payment must be turned in by tomorrow (8-18-23).

If your child(ren) will be attending the After School Care program this school year, stop by the ASC table during Open House. It will be located by the office. You can grab all needed paperwork and ask any questions you may have. If your child(ren) will be attending in August, I will need payment and calendar by Friday, August 18th (first day of school).
There will be a place to turn in Summer Reading Challenge BINGO sheets at Open House on Thursday evening. Students can also turn sheets in on Friday, the first day of school. There will be a table in front of the office to to turn in the BINGO sheets. We will draw 6 winners at the end of the day on Friday.

The District Open House is scheduled for Thursday, August 17!!! Come out and visit your child's classroom at Monroe from 5:00 to 6:30 pm and at the JSHS from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
If your child will be attending the ASC program this year, please complete the registration form and August scheduling calendar located at the link below. There will be an ASC table set up at Open House for collecting forms. There will also be extra forms at the ASC table if you are unable to print them out ahead of time. Even if you have filled out registration forms in prior years, we still need an updated one for this year. Registration form, August scheduling calendar and payment are due August 18. ASC will start the first day of school!

Help Wanted
Monroe Elementary School is seeking applicants for a cafeteria helper from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on student attendance days per the District calendar for the upcoming 2023-24 school year. This is a 9 month position. Starting salary: $15.00 per hour. Candidates may apply at Monroe Elementary or email Linda Campbell at linda.campbell@caseywestfield.org. Deadline for applications is August 4, 2023.

Verizon is giving away 100 backpacks with school supplies on Sunday, July 30 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm while supplies last. Location is the Casey Verizon store behind Subway.
Online registration for returning students, will open on July 24, 2023 and close on August 4, 2023.

Monroe Elementary Head Custodian Needed

Monroe Elementary School has an opening for Head Custodian beginning in August 2023
Applicants must have High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Hours are 7:00-4:00 pm M-F with weekend building checks required. This is a 12-month position with benefits including paid holidays throughout the school year. The starting pay is $19.00/hour.

HELP WANTED - One to One aide:
Monroe Elementary School has an opening for the 2023-2024 school year for a full-time One-on-One Student Aide: Applicant must have a high school diploma. This position requires physical mobility and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. In addition, applicants must hold an ISBE para-professionals license or apply for one through the Regional Office of Education #11. Duties include assisting a student with basic and educational needs as directed by teachers/staff.. Starting pay is $14.00 an hour with additional benefits included. Hours are 7:45 am - 3:15 pm on student attendance days per the District calendar. This is a 9 month position Deadline for applications is June 23, 2023.

Summer Reading Challenge:
Summer is a time for relaxing and fun! It's a well deserved break for working hard all school year. It's also a time to keep your reading skills sharp, and we've created a fun way to do this. Today, kindergarten through 5th grade students will be bringing home a Summer BINGO reading sheet, along with some flyers with ideas on how to make summer reading FUN! Students must color in the square when they have completed the challenge. The goal is to color in EVERY square on the sheet. Bring the sheet back to open house in August for a chance to win either a Kindle, Squishmallow and book or a $50 gift certificate to Scholastic Books. I will send out reminders throughout the summer.
Along with this Summer Reading Challenge, please check out the Library's summer reading program. It is held at the Casey Township Library every Wednesday in June, 11am-1pm.
Monroe's End of the Year Carnival🎪 is tomorrow!! It's going to be a day filled with games, activities, popcorn, cotton candy, popsicles, ice cream and the grand finale... Mrs. Campbell being duct taped to a tree😅!! There will be water involved in some actives, so sending an extra set of clothes might be a good idea. If you would like for your child to wear sunscreen and/or bug spray, please apply at home before school.
