We will call this a Close to all school collaboration project (a few students were absent and no kindergarten). Students were given one color family to use and had to complete a self portrait picture. My student assistant, Lucy Moore, arranged them in rainbow order! ROYGBIV for the win! 🌈

🌰✨The last couple of weeks in Zone Room sessions, our younger students read Acorn Was a Little Wild by Jen Arena and talked all about what it means to have self-control and make safe, kind choices — even when we feel a little “wild”!
Our older students focused on the same theme of growth and self-control, sharing real-life examples of when they made strong choices and how they can keep growing this fall.
No matter our age, we can all be a little wild sometimes — but like Acorn, we’re learning that growth happens when we slow down, reflect, and make good choices! 🌰✨

We read Pumpkin Jack in the library last week, so we brought in our own Pumpkin Jack. The kids are going to get to watch the life cycle of a pumpkin first hand!

It's the perfect week to sell some Oakland Noodles! Our fundraiser is live for another week. We are looking to revamp our BRAVE Program incentives to motivate students even more. The Oakland Noodle Fundraiser will allow us to purchase exciting, new incentives! This is such an important fundraiser for our school. We appreciate any and all support!

On October 8, sixth-grade students visited Springfield. They had been preparing for the trip by studying Abraham Lincoln and the state government. In class, they analyzed the Gettysburg Address, and they got to see one of Lincoln's handwritten copies in person! For the trip, they explored the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in the morning. Then, in the afternoon, they took guided tours of the Capitol, the Old State Capitol, and Lincoln's Tomb.

First Grade had Ag in the Classroom last week. We looked at honeycomb, tasted honey, and learned how bees make honey. This great program will visit the classrooms once a month.

Mrs. Davis' First Grade class has been practicing Reading Center routines all week. They were excited to try reading on their own. We have been trying to increase our reading stamina and today's goal was 15 minutes.
