HELP WANTED - One to One aide: Monroe Elementary School has an opening for the 2023-2024 school year for a full-time One-on-One Student Aide: Applicant must have a high school diploma. This position requires physical mobility and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. In addition, applicants must hold an ISBE para-professionals license or apply for one through the Regional Office of Education #11. Duties include assisting a student with basic and educational needs as directed by teachers/staff.. Starting pay is $14.00 an hour with additional benefits included. Hours are 7:45 am - 3:15 pm on student attendance days per the District calendar. This is a 9 month position Deadline for applications is June 23, 2023. Summer Reading Challenge: Summer is a time for relaxing and fun! It's a well deserved break for working hard all school year. It's also a time to keep your reading skills sharp, and we've created a fun way to do this. Today, kindergarten through 5th grade students will be bringing home a Summer BINGO reading sheet, along with some flyers with ideas on how to make summer reading FUN! Students must color in the square when they have completed the challenge. The goal is to color in EVERY square on the sheet. Bring the sheet back to open house in August for a chance to win either a Kindle, Squishmallow and book or a $50 gift certificate to Scholastic Books. I will send out reminders throughout the summer. Along with this Summer Reading Challenge, please check out the Library's summer reading program. It is held at the Casey Township Library every Wednesday in June, 11am-1pm.

Monroe's End of the Year Carnival🎪 is tomorrow!! It's going to be a day filled with games, activities, popcorn, cotton candy, popsicles, ice cream and the grand finale... Mrs. Campbell being duct taped to a tree😅!! There will be water involved in some actives, so sending an extra set of clothes might be a good idea. If you would like for your child to wear sunscreen and/or bug spray, please apply at home before school.

If your child has earned a ✨100 AR point club shirt, please have them wear it on Thursday, May 18th. We are going to grab a picture for the paper! 📸📰 Their names will be listed in the paper along with the picture, so if you do not want your child photographed, please let me know. Students still have a week left to reach 100 points and earn the shirt!! 📚⭐

Please check your child's backpack for the Spring Family Reading Night RSVP form. Food will be served 5:30-7:00, the reading portion is 6:00-7:30. Hope to see our families then!

Here are a few reminders as 📚Read Across America Week📚 comes to a close: ✨We're overwhelmed by the support of our Read-A-Thon. Our Monroe families are so generous--we can hardly believe the amount we have collected so far. So thank you, thank you for always supporting us❣ The Read-A-Thon will remain open throughout next week, and students can continue to log minutes. ✨Reading Raffle prizes have been set out (picture below). So many chances for students to take home a prize. Students will turn in Thursday's portion of the Reading Raffle form tomorrow. The more minutes they read, the better their chances are of winning a prize! ✨Students may bring a stuffed animal and a snack to enjoy during silent reading tomorrow. ✨Pajamas or comfy clothes tomorrow!

Read Across America Week Starts this Monday, February 27. We have some fun activities planned to celebrate: 📚Dress-Up Days 📚Read-A-Thon: If you haven’t activated your child’s account, please do so before Monday! 📚Book Raffle: Information is being sent home tonight. 📚Guest Readers: Please return the guest reader form ASAP. A current, 22-23 volunteer form must be on file for all guest readers. 📚“Guess How Many Bookworms”: each student will guess how many “bookworms” are in the jar. The winner gets to take home all of the “bookworms” (gummy worms😉). 📚Stuffed animal and snacks: A flyer with more information will be sent home next week. As always, we will post information on DOJO throughout the week.
